Terms & Conditions (Terms of Trade)

Use of our Website

Welcome to our website, if you continue to browse and use this website you are agreeing to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions of use (Terms of Trade), which together with our privacy policy govern Steel Frames Direct Limited (SFD)’s relationship with you in relation to this website.

The terms ‘Steel Frames Direct’ (SFD), Frametech, Go Tiny and/or Triple Eight Holdings, ‘our’, ‘us’ or ‘we’ refers to the owner of the website whose registered office is 108b Harris Road, East Tamaki, Auckland, 2013. The term ‘you’ or ‘your’ refers to the user of this page and/or viewer of our website. Cont, below…

Pricing & Estimates

Any pricing estimate that you receive from us is valid for 7 days only unless stated otherwise. Due to supply chain demands, our steel pricing is subject to change, should this be the case any 7-day price quoted can and will be adjusted.

Once your plans/sketches go to our drafting schedule following a deposit being received, we reserve the right to adjust the estimate or quotes given to allow for variances following the exact quantities of steel being known once drafted.  The maximum we will increase the price once the quantities are known will be 10% if needed.

Additionally, when working with you, your project may involve a number of parties and there may be changes to your plans before they are finalised and/or after drafting has commenced.  Where there is a large difference in the quantities of steel for your project due to additional changes you make, you accept that you will be charged fairly for those changes.

Furthermore ‘Errors and Omissions Excepted’ – we rarely make a price estimate mistake, but when we do, in good faith where we need to revise a price estimate, we try to keep it as close to the original as possible.

Freight Deliveries

Where we cannot deliver your frames ourselves, we use a variety of freight providers depending on your address and their availability.  More often than not, freight deliveries by others will be in flatpack form – see the infographic here (4th and 5th picture).  Deliveries may be to the freight providers depot, and not your property if it is: a) not suitable for large trucks and/or; b) you do not have equipment such as fork hoists on-site to lift off a crate or pallet (not all freight companies in all areas have hiab equipped trucks).  If this is the case, you must then arrange with the freight company collection or on forwarding to your property directly.

Our freight component of what we estimate and/or charge you is therefore by default to the freight providers depot, and is only to your physical property if deemed suitable by the freight company.  Additional charges by the freight company to get your flatpack frames to your desired location may therefore be applicable and payable by you.

Delays in freight forwarding – once your frame kit leaves our factory, you agree that it is your responsibility to track the whereabouts of it directly with the freight forwarder.  In good faith, we use quality freight forwarders and we can’t be responsible to follow up with them constantly and/or with who they have onforwarded the frame kit to.  Generally, frame kits get delivered within three to ten days after being collected from our factory.

When we ourselves deliver your frames as fully made up panels (1st picture in the infographic), we take you for your word that your property is suitable to receive our vehicles and trailers.  Whilst every precaution is taken including a Google Map view we do of your address, if we arrive at your property and our driver deems it unsafe or you expect our delivery staff to carry the framing an unexpected distance, or drive through paddocks, we reserve the right to offload your frames inside your property gates and/or as furthest as our vehicles can go for safety and preventing damage to our vehicles (or getting stuck).  Your frames will be laid flat for safety, and/or if you want them standing up leaning against an existing structure on delivery you acknowledge you will secure them until they are installed.  NB, in most circumstances we only send a driver, so you agree to have at least two people  (one person for small frames) on your property to help offload the frames. SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT for you and our staff.

Tolls, ferry costs are to be added when not otherwise stated.  If we are to deliver via ferry additional time costs are to be added.

IMPORTANT – Our delivery staff will NOT offload your frames IF there are children or animals within close proximity to our trailer.  YOU MUST PROVIDE US with a SAFE CLEAR SPACE ENVIRONMENT to unload your frames. Furthermore, if the drop-off location has vehicles or other potential hindrances close to where the frames are being offloaded, YOU are responsible for ANY damage caused to such hindrances.

Third Party Freight Carriers – when we use a third-party carrier to deliver your frames, we are under the impression they have the appropriate insurance. However, most have cover under the Carriers Act for Carriage of Goods at $1,500 per delivery/unit.  When we send your frames by a third-party carrier, you agree to their Terms and Conditions.  If you would like a copy of their Terms and Conditions, we can arrange a copy to be sent to you prior to your framing being delivered.  We are NOT responsible for any damage to your framing or property when your framing is being delivered by a third-party carrier.

Our Designs to Council

We are framing manufacturers with a team of detailers who can take your plans or sketches and produce a set of workable plans that can be used with our roll-forming machines to produce frame panelling for your intended structure – that’s it. The detailed set of plans we produce will be to the NASH standards which are used to manufacture light gauge steel framing for your build. At no time do we confirm that our plans are suitable for submission to the council as is. You must engage your engineer or architect who can use our plans along with their submission information to the council. For a fee to assist a PS1 application and the like, we can also provide reports of the entire frame kit for your engineer or architect to submit.

Advice

Again we are framing manufacturers only, and whilst we may have some building knowledge, any advice or opinions we give you, verbally or when answering your questions in written communications such as in an email, is opinion only. You MUST do your own research with your local council in relation to the rules around your intended build.  We will not be held responsible for you embarking on a project which you then at a later date run into issues with the council.  It is YOUR responsibility to make sure that you are complying with your local council rules.  Any subsequent costs in this area are your full responsibility.

Manufacturing to Signed Off Plans

Before your framing goes to manufacturing, your plans/designs must be signed off by you.  In most cases, this is done via email.  Verbally over the phone will NOT suffice so we will ask you to confirm the plans/designs by email before we put your framing into production.  We will manufacture to the final plans that you sign off, we ask that you double-check, if not triple-check the plans to ensure they are correct.

Deposits/Payments/Refunds

Before designing/manufacturing your framing, we require a deposit of $1,500 + gst ($1,725.00) per framing kit, to the following bank account: Steel Frames Direct Limited, ASB 12-3099-0112320-00 (include your name or invoice number in the reference fields).  If we haven’t issued an invoice as yet, you will be issued a tax invoice/receipt immediately upon confirmation of your deposit payment being received.

A deposit confirmation gets your framing either directly to our manufacturing schedule and/or into our drafting team’s schedule. Once drafting or manufacturing has commenced on your project, your deposit is non-refundable.

If your circumstances change and we have not manufactured or our drafting team has not started on your design plans, we will refund 80-90% (incl gst) of your deposit depending on the amount of time spent working with you. If we have started on the design, a percentage of your deposit may be refundable depending on the number of hours our design team has spent on it.

NB, we are a wholesale manufacturer, our margins are low, and so to reduce cash flow issues that every business faces in these challenging times, we have a strict ‘nothing is manufactured or leaves our factories unless it is fully paid for’ policy.

We issue a final invoice for payment in full before your frames are dispatched and/or go into production.

Referrals/Recommendations

We make referrals and recommendations for other supplier services/products in good faith and normally based on positive feedback.  However, if we refer a builder or product supplier to you and you engage or buy from them, we are not responsible for any workmanship or product faults.  It is your responsibility to do your due diligence with that business as you do with any other business.

Trailers Left in Our Yard

Whilst we don’t mind storing your trailer and/or framing for a few days, we will not be held liable for it whilst it is left in our yard.  We have front gates that are secured by padlocks only. It is YOUR responsibility to have your trailer insured and to make sure your insurance company will cover it for possible theft or damage whilst it is left in our yard.
